During the International Sport Forum joint Conference in Madrid will be presented the winners of 4 different awards:

SCS Coach of the Year Award

With the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year (SCCY) award, SCS wishes to recognise and honour outstanding practitioners in the field of physical preparation. Eligible SCS members must:

  • Be currently practicing S&C coaches
  • Base their training prescriptions on the latest scientific evidence
  • Progress the profession through their own research
  • Make significant contributions to the education of other coaches.

In agreement with SCS’s mission, all applications from coaches focusing on performance enhancement, injury prevention, rehabilitation and health improvement are welcome.
Attendees who would like to be considered for the SCS Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award, must submit:

  • A one-page cover letter stating “why he/she should be considered for the award”. Candidates should focus on their journey and prior learning/experiences, as well as results in relation to their sport/s and level of sport/s.
    • Format requirements: 11-point font, Times New Roman, 2 cm margins on all sides.
  • Curriculum vitae or resume.
  • A one-page reference from another coach or affiliate (this may include a “knowledgeable parent” but not a current or former athlete) using the same format requirements stated above.
  • All documents in English.
  • Documents must be sent via Email to scs@akesios.it with “SCS Coach of the Year Award Application” Subject.

The top 3 finalists will be announced prior to the conference and the winner will be announced at the start of the conference.

Investigator awards

A jury consisting of the ESNS and SCS Scientific Board grants the awards based upon a oral presentation for the top abstracts respectively following the below listed reviewing criteria.

SCS Young Investigator Award & ESNS Young Investigator Awards Requirements:

  • Presenter and submitter must be the same person and less than 35 years of age.
  • The candidate must apply for an oral communication.
  • The selected finalists will present in a special oral communication session.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on creativity, effort, attention to scientific detail and presentation skills. The award committee will take into consideration the similarity between the submitted abstract and the oral presentation.

All requirements must be met within the requested deadlines to successfully apply for the Award.
Current/paid ESNS or SCS membership before the deadline of abstract submission.
You are presently enrolled as a student at a university or you were awarded your PhD degree within 5 years of the deadline for abstract submission (September 1st).
Congress registration fee paid before the registration deadline for presenting authors.
Furthermore the Winner will be invited as a guest at the forthcoming Annual Conference.
The winners will be presented during the Award Ceremony on Friday, November 15, 2019.

SCS Applied Science Award Requirements:

  • The candidate must apply for an oral communication.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on creativity, effort, and applicability to sport, coaches or athletes. The award committee will take into consideration the similarity between the submitted abstract and the oral presentation.

The winners will be presented during the Award Ceremony on Friday, November 15, 2019.
